Marlow Candy & Nut Company of Englewood, NJ has initiated a voluntary recall of certain products they package because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The product was sourced from Peanut Corporation of America.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. While none of the Marlow and/or Skinner’s brand products have been identified as being contaminated nor linked to any illnesses Marlow Candy & Nut Company is in the process of removing these items from the shelves while the FDA continues its investigation.
Anyone who has purchased any of these items should return them to the store from which they were purchased for a full refund.
