Super Store Industries Announces Voluntary Recall of Select Ice Cream Products Due to Possible Health Risk

Super Store Industries announced a voluntary recall of 3 ice cream products that contain peanuts which were sourced from PCA and have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The company has not received any complaints of consumer illnesses associated with these products.

Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

All lots of the following products were affected and were distributed in California and Nevada:

1.) A Herd of Laughter - Tin Can Alley - UPC 1754420577- Pint
2.) Sunnyside Farms - Peanut Brittle (Limited Edition) - UPC 1754420007 - 1.65L (56oz)
3.) Stater Bros.- Bananas, Nuts & Fudge – UPC 7417585487 – 1.65L (56 oz)

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

The FDA and other regulatory agencies have been investigating Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) due to a recent Salmonella outbreak associated with various peanut products. The FDA has advised that all products produced by PCA from its Blakely, Georgia facility are subject to recall.
