George J. Howe Co. Announces Voluntary Nationwide Recall of French Burnt Peanut Products

The George J. Howe Company today announced that it is voluntarily recalling all French Burnt Peanut products distributed under its brand because of a possible health risk. The five products being recalled came from a manufacturer that used peanuts from the Peanut Corp. of America’s Blakely, Ga., facility. The Food and Drug Administration has linked this plant to a salmonella outbreak.

None of the recalled products has been found to be contaminated with salmonella and there have been no reported illnesses or consumer complaints associated with any George J. Howe product. No other Howe products are affected by or involved in this recall.

This voluntary nationwide recall of French Burnt Peanut products is being issued by the 81-year-old, family-owned company out of an abundance of caution. The following products should be returned immediately for a full refund or exchange:

These products have been sold by drug stores, convenience stores, grocery stores and mass merchants, as well as online.
Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in your children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
