ISS Research®, LLC announced today that it is initiating a voluntary recall of the identified lots of OhYeah!® bars in response to the widened recall involving all peanut products produced by Peanut Corporation of America’s Blakely facility since 2007.
The specified OhYeah!® bars are being recalled out of an abundance of caution because they contain roasted peanuts manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). Independent laboratory testing has indicated no salmonella contamination in any OhYeah!® products. PCA is the focus of an investigation by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) concerning a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut products.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection to these products. No other ISS Research® or OhYeah!® flavors, brands or products are included in this recall.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. For more information regarding Salmonella, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Website at www.cdc.gov.
