Allegro Fine Foods, Inc. Recalls Wow Thai Peanut Wing Sauce & Dressing Because of Possible Health Risk

Allegro Fine Foods, Inc. of Paris, TN is recalling approximately 45 cases of WOW Thai Peanut Wing Sauce & Dressing packaged in gallon jugs because the peanut butter in the sauce was supplied by Peanut Corporation of America and has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella bacteria often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (e.g., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.

The WOW Thai Peanut Wing Sauce & Dressing manufactured by Allegro Fine Foods, Inc. was distributed in 2007 in California, Montana, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana through WOW Café and Wingery of Covington, Louisiana and Sysco Food Service of Harahan, Louisiana and Walnut, California. WOW Thai Peanut Wing Sauce & Dressing is packaged in plastic gallon jugs with the code 07213 on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date. The recall was initiated when Allegro Fine Foods, Inc. was informed that Peanut Corporation of America was recalling the peanut butter used to manufacture the WOW Thai Peanut Wing Sauce & Dressing. Allegro Fine Foods, Inc. ceased production and distribution of the product in August 2007. Consumers who have this product should not consume it. They should discard the sauce but may take the packaging back to the location of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (731) 642-6113.
