General Mills is voluntarily recalling a single day's production of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins because of a labeling issue. Product produced on this date may have been packaged incorrectly, and may contain allergens not listed on the box's ingredient label, specifically peanut butter.

A production error resulted in a limited number of properly-labeled, individually-wrapped Nature Valley Peanut Butter Flavor Granola Thins packages being inserted into 10-count boxes labeled as Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins.

There have been no reports of allergic reactions or illnesses associated with this product, however, the possibility of an unlabeled allergen makes this a Class One recall.

This voluntary recall includes only 10-count boxes of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins with one Better if Used By date printed on the top of the box:

Individually labeled foil packages of Nature Valley Peanut Butter Flavor Granola Thins are visibly different from the Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins product depicted on the incorrect box. Rather than containing Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins, the box could contain Nature Valley Peanut Butter Flavor Granola Thins.

Consumers allergic to peanuts, or who are unsure of whether they are allergic to peanuts, should not consume Nature Valley Granola Thins products from 10-count boxes bearing the Better if Used By date 05JUN2011 YO 12 on the top of the box, and should contact General Mills for replacement or a full refund.

No other varieties or production dates of Nature Valley products are affected by this recall.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to the recall of a dozen Parkers Farm products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Parkers Farm, Inc., Coon Rapids, Minn., is recalling several products that have been distributed to national retail food chains because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes -- an organism that has the potential to cause serious and sometimes fatal infection.

The recalled products were distributed to national retailers Hy-Vee, Cub, Rainbow, Lunds & Byerly’s, Target, Whole Foods, Jewel, Dominicks, Marsh, Price Chopper, Shop Rite, Nash Finch, Sams Club, Costco, and Safeway.

The following products -- sold under the Parkers Farm or Parkers label -- are being recalled.

- 16-ounce peanut butter in square plastic containers (tub with snap on lid), varieties are creamy, crunchy, honey creamy and honey crunchy with sell by dates between 11/14/2010 and 12/31/2010**.

LeClerc Foods Announces a Limited Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Market Pantry Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars due to Unlabeled Peanut Allergen

Leclerc Foods has initiated a limited voluntary recall of a single lot of Market Pantry Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bar packages with UPC Code 85239 20124 and a “Best By” date of 18JAN2010.

The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure after it was discovered that product was mispackaged and the retail units may also contain Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars and S’more Bars. As a result the ingredient statement on the retail package does not include peanuts as an ingredient. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The wrappers of the individual bars within the retail package have correct variety name on it. However, out of an abundance of precaution, the mispackaged product is being recalled.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The product is available in 15.2 oz. boxes containing 18 bars per box and the date code is found printed in white on the right side of the box. The “Best By” date of 18JAN2010 is the only date code affected by the recall. Beaverton, Oregon based Arico Natural Foods Company announced today a voluntary recall of Arico Peanut Butter Cookies and Cookie Bars as a precautionary measure due to yesterday’s expanded recall of peanut ingredients from Peanut Corporation of America’s Blakely, Georgia facility, which is the subject of an FDA investigation concerning the recent Salmonella outbreak.

Zachary Confections initiated the voluntary recall immediately in response to an expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA’s expanded recall now includes all peanuts and peanut-related products from PCA’s Blakely, Georgia plant from January 2007 to present. The FDA is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella targeted at PCA’s Blakely plant. Zachary Confections used whole roasted peanuts from PCA for the products listed above.

Zachary Confections has not received any consumer illness complaints associated with its products. Products manufactured by Zachary Confections have not been linked to the nationwide Salmonella outbreak. As part of its priority to ensure the safety and quality of all of its products, Zachary Confections is issuing the voluntary recall.

Bear Naked Announces Recall of Appalachian Trail Mixes Due to Possible Peanut Corporation of America Contamination and Potential Health Risk

As a result of the expansion of Peanut Corporation of America’s recall to include all peanut ingredients produced in their Blakely, Georgia facility since Jan. 1, 2007, Bear Naked today announced a voluntary nationwide recall of Bear Naked All-Natural Appalachian Trail Mix products. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection to these Bear Naked products. No other Bear Naked products are involved in this recall.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are urged to destroy them. Consumers with questions or who would like a refund may contact the Bear Naked Consumer Response Center at 877-392-1660. Consumers with questions or concerns about their health should contact their doctor.

Products impacted by the recall include all sizes of Bear Naked All-Natural Appalachian Trail Mix with a “Better if Used Before” date prior to February 01, 2010, and with the following bar codes on the package: 85641600187, 85641600141, 85641600174, 85641642518, 85641600189, and 88462343792.
