Doctor’s CarbRite Diet of New Brunswick, NJ is voluntarily recalling all lots of the 2 oz. Chocolate Brownie Doctor’s CarbRite Diet Bar that are missing the allergen statement, “Allergy Alert: Made on equipment that also processes soy, milk, egg, peanuts and tree nuts”, due to possible peanut allergen cross-contamination. This allergy statement would be found at the end of the Ingredients list. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to a specific type of allergen (e.g., peanuts, tree nuts {chestnuts, brazil nuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pine nuts, cashews}, eggs, and sulfites) run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled lots of the Chocolate Brownie Doctor’s CarbRite Diet Bar extend to all fifty states and the bar was offered through a variety of distribution channels including health food stores, gyms, and internet-based e-commerce sites.

This recall affects only the Chocolate Brownie flavor for Doctor’s CarbRite Diet Bars, those marked with the UPC # 0 39442 08112 4.

Chocolate Brownie Doctor’s CarbRite Diet Bars have been produced for over 10 years for sale without any serious adverse events or allergic reactions reported in the United States.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the certain Chocolate Brownie flavored bars were distributed in packaging that omitted the appropriate allergen warnings: “Allergy Alert: Made on equipment that also processes soy, milk, egg, peanuts and tree nuts.” Examination of current lots of Chocolate Brownie revealed that the correct allergen warnings do appear.

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the Food and Drug Administration.

Consumers who purchased any one of the affected lot numbers in question are asked to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund or credit. Williams-Sonoma Recalls Hot Chocolate Pots Due To Burn and Laceration Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Hot chocolate pots

Units: About 28,000 units in the United States and 700 in Canada

Importer: ICI USA, LLC, of Seattle, Wash.

Distributor: Williams-Sonoma Inc., of San Francisco, Calif.

Hazard: The handle of the hot chocolate pot can break off during use, posing burn and laceration hazards.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 28 reports of handles breaking off of the pots, including eight reports of injuries involving minor burns or cuts.

Description: This recall involves the Whirly Whip hot chocolate pots sold individually as item number 2981454 or 4986535, and as part of the Whirly Whip hot chocolate pot gift set item number 3021714. The item number can be found on the product's box, below the bar code. The pot is made of white porcelain and has a red handle. The lid has a red knob and a frother attached to the underside of the lid knob.

Sold at: Williams-Sonoma stores nationwide, online at www.williams-sonoma.com and through Williams-Sonoma catalogs from October 2010 through January 2011 for between $30 and $40.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hot chocolate pots and either return the product to any Williams-Sonoma store or contact Williams-Sonoma for instructions on how to return the product for a full refund.

Liz Lovely, Inc. of Waitsfield, VT, a dairy free bakery, is recalling cookie products containing chocolate or chocolate chips with undeclared dairy present in the chocolate which was purchased from a third-party chocolate manufacturer.

General Mills Issues Voluntary Class One Recall of One Day's Production of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins

General Mills is voluntarily recalling a single day's production of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins because of a labeling issue. Product produced on this date may have been packaged incorrectly, and may contain allergens not listed on the box's ingredient label, specifically peanut butter.

A production error resulted in a limited number of properly-labeled, individually-wrapped Nature Valley Peanut Butter Flavor Granola Thins packages being inserted into 10-count boxes labeled as Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins.

There have been no reports of allergic reactions or illnesses associated with this product, however, the possibility of an unlabeled allergen makes this a Class One recall.

This voluntary recall includes only 10-count boxes of Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins with one Better if Used By date printed on the top of the box:

Individually labeled foil packages of Nature Valley Peanut Butter Flavor Granola Thins are visibly different from the Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Flavor Granola Thins product depicted on the incorrect box. Consumers allergic to peanuts, or who are unsure of whether they are allergic to peanuts, should not consume Nature Valley Granola Thins products from 10-count boxes bearing the Better if Used By date 05JUN2011 YO 12 on the top of the box, and should contact General Mills for replacement or a full refund.

No other varieties or production dates of Nature Valley products are affected by this recall.

South Bend Chocolate Company Announces Nationwide Recall of Bountiful Blend Chocolates Due to Undeclared Tree Nuts

The South Bend Chocolate Company, South Bend, Indiana, is recalling 174 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend, a blend of chocolate covered mixed nuts and dried fruits, because it contains undeclared cashews, almonds, pecans, and Brazil nuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Bountiful Blend was sold via internet sales, mail order and may have been sold nationwide through our distributors to retail stores.

The Bountiful Blend product impacted by the recall is sold under The South Bend Chocolate Company brand name and was produced on or after March 18, 2010. The product under recall is: Bountiful Blend in 1-lb Bags. Products with labels reading Item #154,UPC #644823001549 are subject to this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

This recall was initiated after it was discovered that Bountiful Blend containing cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts were not listed on the product’s labeling. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by the printing of ingredient statements and was cut off before the listing of nuts printed.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Caramel Chocolate Truffle Hot Chocolate Mix was distributed domestically through direct delivery, mail order and through retail stores. This product is also shipped to Canada, United Kingdom, Japan and the Netherlands. Product distributed between January 2007 and November 2, 2009 is subject to this recall.

Caramel Chocolate Truffle Hot Chocolate Mix is packaged in a cone shape poly bag with a hanging tag attached to the front of the package and SKU# 3204, UPC 94522 01015 on the back of the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Kilwin's Quality Confections, Inc. Conducted Nationwide Recall of Chocolate-Covered Peanuts Because of Possible Health Risk

Kilwin's Quality Confections, Inc. of Petoskey, MI, is recalling all of our 7 ounce packages of chocolate-covered peanuts, and bulk chocolate-covered peanuts, sold in our retail stores, which were sold prior to April 1, 2009, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled chocolate-covered peanuts were sold in Kilwin's retail stores located in the following states: Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin, Colorado, Rhode Island, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

The product comes in a 7 ounce, gold foiled plastic package with a clear center section, and is labeled "Milk Chocolate Peanuts" and "Fresh dry roasted peanuts covered in creamy milk chocolate", Kilwin's Quality Confections, Petosky, MI 49770. The barcode on the package is 001615. Additionally, the product was sold in bulk bins, by weight, at Kilwin's retail stores.

No illnesses have been reported to us in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after our peanuts supplier voluntarily recalled their product because these peanuts were subject to the PCA Texas facility recall.

Any of these products purchased at our stores on or after April 1, 2009 are not subject to this recall.

This product was sold and distributed nationally to foodservice companies and sold to consumers through foodservice retail outlets and other foodservice establishments.

This voluntary recall has been initiated in response to a series of recalls coming from suppliers who used products coming from Peanut Corporation of America Blakely plant since January 2007. The FDA is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella targeted at that plant during this time period.

Landies Candies Co. Inc Expands Voluntary Recall to Include Select Organic Peanut Clusters Due to Possible Health Risk

Landies Candies expands its 1/21/09 voluntary recall to include select chocolate products containing organic peanuts because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. FDA and other regulatory agencies have indicated that Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) is the focus of an investigation concerning a recent Salmonella outbreak thought to be caused by tainted peanut butter. As a result of the investigation, PCA has recalled numerous lots of suspect peanut butter, peanut paste, and other peanut products. PCA is one of Landies peanut suppliers. This recall is a result of the PCA expanded recall of 1/28/09.

Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. No other Zachary Confections products are involved in this recall.

Zachary Confections initiated the voluntary recall immediately in response to an expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA’s expanded recall now includes all peanuts and peanut-related products from PCA’s Blakely, Georgia plant from January 2007 to present. The FDA is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella targeted at PCA’s Blakely plant. Zachary Confections used whole roasted peanuts from PCA for the products listed above.

Zachary Confections has not received any consumer illness complaints associated with its products. Products manufactured by Zachary Confections have not been linked to the nationwide Salmonella outbreak. As part of its priority to ensure the safety and quality of all of its products, Zachary Confections is issuing the voluntary recall.

Lesserevil Brand Snack Co. Issues a Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Lesserevil Brand Peanut Butter and Choco Kettle Corn

LesserEvil announces a voluntary recall of PEANUT BUTTER AND CHOCO KETTLE CORN because the peanut butter in this product was purchased from Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). Peanut butter products produced by PCA have been the subject of an investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are linked in a national outbreak of Salmonella. The FDA expanded it investigation of PCA, and PCA has expanded its recall to additional lot codes and peanut products produced since January 1, 2007. LesserEvil purchased peanut butter from PCA from some of the lot codes that were part of PCA’s expanded recall. As a result, LesserEvil is issuing a voluntary national recall of Peanut Butter and Choco Kettle Corn.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, infection with salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses, such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this Peanut Butter and Choco Kettle Corn. No other LesserEvil brand products are being recalled or are impacted by this recall.

LesserEvil distributed this product nationally under the brand name “LESSEREVIL PEANUT BUTTER AND CHOCO KETTLE CORN.” In addition, LesserEvil exported this product to Japan and Canada. The UPC of the product distributed in the U.S. and in Japan is 180999000356. The UPC for the Canadian product is 180999000516. The product comes in a 3.65 oz bag in a box. All lot codes are being recalled. The recalled products should be removed from sale.

LesserEvil sells this product through distributors to grocery and specialty stores and internet sales. This product was also included in some gift baskets. If you purchased LesserEvil Peanut Butter and Choco Popcorn, please either throw away the kettle corn in a manner that prevents others from eating it or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund.

The South Bend Chocolate Company today announced they have extended their voluntary recall of candy to additional products because they contain peanut butter from Peanut Corporation of America, which may be contaminated with Salmonella.

These products were sold via internet sales, mail order and may have been sold nationwide through our distributors to retail stores.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. Candy impacted by the recall is all sold under The South Bend Chocolate Company brand name and was produced on or after July 1, 2008. The candies under recall include:

Assorted chocolates in 5 ounce (Products with labels reading 121 and 121R,UPC #4482300121 are under recall), 8 ounce (Products with labels reading 122, 122DK and 122R, UPC #4482300122 are under recall), 12 ounce (Products with labels reading 123 and 123DK, UPC #4482300123 are under recall) and 26 ounce (Product 124, UPC #4482300124 is under recall) boxes. [Note: the sugar free assorted chocolates are not affected, and are not part of the recall].

Hoosiers in 1.5 ounce (Product 010, UPC# 4482300011) and 3.0 ounce (Product 011, UPC# 4482300010. [Note: These are corrected sizes].

Valentine Heart, 14 ounces (Products with labels reading 1020 and 1020R, UPC #4482310201 are under recall).

Additionally Christmas gift boxes (CC, CCLG, CCXL and CCXXL) and any other gift baskets may have included the assorted chocolate boxes.
