Mars Snackfood US ISSUES ALLERGY ALERT ON UNDECLARED PEANUTS In Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection Ice Cream

Mars Snackfood US announced a voluntary recall of its Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection ice cream with the lot number 931AB5YN07 because it may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No related illnesses have been reported to date. For consumers who do not suffer from a peanut allergy or sensitivity, this product is safe to eat. The lot number is found on the bottom of the containers.

This voluntary recall is limited to this specific lot number (931AB5YN07) and was distributed only in the United States, and specifically to the following states: AL, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, NC, OH, OR, TX, UT, WA and WI.

Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection is sold in a brown and gold 15.10 fl. oz. pint container and pictures a ribbon of caramel, pecans and a square of Dove® Brand Chocolate on the front.

The voluntary recall was initiated after Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection containing peanuts in lot number 931AB5YN07 was discovered. Mars Snackfood US was able to quickly confirm that only this lot is affected and, out of an abundance of caution, issued a voluntary recall for potentially affected containers of the ice cream.

Mars Snackfood US will work with retail customers to ensure that the recalled products are not on store shelves. In the event that consumers believe they have purchased products affected by this voluntary recall, they should return the product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Unilever Issues Allergy Alert on Wheat in a Limited Number of Tubs of Breyers® Ice Cream

Unilever United States, Inc., of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is voluntarily recalling a limited number of tubs of Breyers® ice cream because it was mispackaged and may contain undeclared wheat. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of allergic reaction if they consume this product.

On a limited number of tubs, the lid describes the product as "Breyers® All Natural Cookies & Cream" ice cream, and the tub portion of the package describes the product as "Breyers® All Natural Mint Chocolate Chip" ice cream. The product inside of the tub is "All Natural Cookies & Cream." The ingredient statement on the tub does not declare wheat, which is an ingredient of the Cookies & Cream product.

The mispackaged ice cream product was distributed in Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Trinidad and Virginia through retail stores in these locations and adjoining areas. The affected product is being recalled from consumers and retailer store shelves, back rooms and warehouses.

The affected mispackaged product was distributed in 1.5-quart (1.41L) paperboard tubs marked with UPC # 077567254245 located on the side of the tub and in combination with "Best If Used By" dates of FEB1711GH, FEB1811GH and FEB1911GH located on the bottom of the tub.

The allergy alert and recall relates only to the above mentioned mispackaged Breyers® ice cream. No other Breyers® ice cream products are affected.

No adverse reactions have been reported to date. In addition to working in cooperation with the FDA, the company is also issuing an alert through the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network.

The recall was initiated after the company received a few consumer complaints about the mispackaged product. It was determined that product containing wheat was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat in the ingredient list on the tub.

Consumers who have purchased the mispackaged Breyers® ice cream with UPC # 077567254245 and in combination with "Best If Used By" dates of FEB1711GH, FEB1811GH and FEB1911GH are urged to discard it immediately and contact the company at 1-877-270-7402 for a full refund. Mayfield Dairy Farms Issues Voluntary Recall of Mayfield Homemade Vanilla Select Ice Cream

/PRNewswire/ -- Mayfield Dairy Farms announced today that it is voluntarily recalling 1.5-quart containers of Mayfield Homemade Vanilla Select Ice Cream with a code date of 03/17/10 and a Universal Product Code (UPC) number of 75243 20148. The recall was initiated because the affected product may have been contaminated with ammonia, which may cause headache, nausea, vomiting and irritation of the throat. No other code dates or Mayfield Dairy Farms products are involved in this recall.

This recall includes 14,084 units. The affected product was distributed through numerous retail outlets in Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. Mayfield's route sales personnel and distributors are working with retail stores to recover the remaining product.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE RECALLED PRODUCT

This recall includes only 1.5-quart containers of Mayfield Homemade Vanilla Select Ice Cream with a code date of 03/17/10 and plant code of 010176. Consumers should look for this information on the rim of the lid. The UPC number is 75243 20148 and is located on the end of the package. No other code dates or Mayfield Dairy Farms products are involved in this recall.

Mayfield has ceased distribution of the affected product. Consumers who have this product should not consume it. They should discard the product and return the package to the place of purchase for a full refund or exchange. The company apologizes for any inconvenience to its customers. Shamrock Foods Company Issues Voluntary Recall on Nutty Sundae Cones

Shamrock Foods Company has issued a voluntary recall on its Shamrock Farms Nutty Sundae Cones ice cream novelty with the UPC # 2830090179. This product is garnished with chopped peanuts from the Peanut Corporation of America, which has been implicated in a national outbreak of Salmonella by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Shamrock Foods Company does not manufacture this item, but has taken this precautionary step following notification by its product manufacturer Ice Cream Specialties, Inc. The Nutty Sundae Cone is a 4.5 oz. novelty ice cream sold to convenience stores, drug stores and food service establishments.

“We are committed to providing top-quality dairy products, and this is a necessary step to ensure the health and safety of our consumers,” said Sandy Kelly, marketing director for Shamrock Farms. “To date, the Nutty Sundae Cone has not been identified as contaminated or linked to any illness. Belfonte Ice Cream and Dairy Foods Company has initiated a recall of a peanut containing ice cream produced at our Kansas City, MO plant because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Belfonte Ice Cream and Dairy Foods Company has switched to a different peanut supplier on February 5, 2009 and any lots not listed above are not under recall. House of Flavors Expands Voluntary Recall of Ice Cream Due to Possible Health Risk

House of Flavors Ice Cream Company has announced an update to their January 30, 2009 voluntary recall of select ice cream products containing peanuts. House of Flavors is taking these measures following an announcement from the peanut ingredient supplier Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) that its products may possibly be contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

No other House of Flavors products are impacted by the recall as they do not contain any peanut butter, peanut paste or whole peanut products produced by PCA.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is currently investigating an alleged salmonella contamination in peanut butter and peanut paste produced at PCA's Blakely, Ga. plant. The expanded recall of PCA products now includes all peanuts and peanut-related products produced at its plant from January 2007 to present.

House of Flavors has not received any consumer illness complaints associated with its products to date. Although none of House of Flavors products has been associated with any consumer illness complaints, the company is voluntarily removing all potentially impacted products from retail store shelves and the entire distribution system.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. Food service accounts who have purchased recalled products in three-gallon containers should return them to the distributor where they were purchased for a full refund. Bucks Ice Cream Recalls Ice Cream Nut Roll Because of Possible Health Risk

Buck's Ice Cream of Milford, CT is voluntarily recalling its French Vanilla Ice Cream Nut Roll, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

This recall is a result of the recall by Peanut Corporation of America of peanut butter products which is the focus of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigation into potential salmonella contamination of peanut products.

The Nut Roll was distributed in Connecticut to restaurants and banquet facilities from January 2007 to January 2009.

Nut Roll is packaged in a white corrugated cardboard box with blue and red printing that is approximately 8.5"x11.5"~5" and contains 24 - 402. portions per box. It is labeled as "FRENCH VANILLA ICE CREAM NUT ROLL".

No illnesses have been reported to date.

HP Hood LLC Recalls Ice Cream Products

HP Hood LLC is voluntarily recalling the products listed below. The company initiated the voluntary recall in response to an expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA’s expanded recall now includes all peanuts and peanut related products manufactured at their Blakely, GA, facility. The FDA is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella linked to that manufacturing facility.

Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores is voluntarily recalling one flavor of Premium Ice Cream - Peanut Butter Pretzel - because it may contain peanut ingredients that have been voluntarily recalled by one of our suppliers, Pecan Deluxe Candy Company. This recall is due to the expanded investigation of Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) is the current focus of an ongoing Salmonella investigation by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA). In January, the FDA expanded its investigation to include all peanuts processed by the PCA at its plant in Blakely, GA., since January 1, 2007. This includes dry and oil-roasted peanuts, granulated peanuts and peanut meal, in addition to peanut butter and peanut paste, which was the initial focus of the investigation.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The voluntary recall of Braum’s Premium Peanut Butter Pretzel Ice Cream includes half gallons, three pint cartons and 3 ½ gallon squares:

This recall does not include any other flavors of Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, or Sherbet produced and sold by Braum’s. Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

Consumers who have purchased Braum’s Premium Peanut Butter Pretzel Ice Cream may return it to any Braum’s store for a full refund or exchange. Kemps LLC Recalls Ice Cream Products

Kemps LLC is voluntarily recalling the products listed below. The company initiated the voluntary recall in response to an expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). PCA’s expanded recall now includes all peanuts and peanut related products manufactured at their Blakely, GA facility. The FDA is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella linked to that manufacturing facility.

This recall is precautionary only. The company has not received any illness complaints about these products.

Unilever United States, Inc. is voluntarily recalling Breyers Tin Roof Sundae ice cream products because they may contain peanuts that have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The Breyers Tin Roof Sundae products, which were discontinued in August 2008, were sold in 1.75 QUART (1.66 L) paper board containers with various expiration dates.

The products were sold to retail establishments nationwide.

This precautionary action was taken as a result of the recently expanded recall by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) to include all peanut ingredients produced in its Blakely, Georgia facility. These Breyers products contained peanuts sourced at the Georgia facility. None of the recalled Breyers products have been directly linked to the Salmonella outbreak, and there have been no illnesses reported.

Consumers who have the Breyers Tin Roof Sundae product are asked to discard it and call 1-877-270-7392, which is operational 24 hours a day, for information on the recall. In addition, a consumer services representative is available between the hours of 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM EST.

No other retail ice cream packaged Unilever products, including Ben & Jerry’s, Klondike, Popsicle – and other varieties of Breyers – are affected by the PCA recall.

Kerry Ingredients & Flavours is voluntarily recalling a chocolate-covered peanut ingredient used in the manufacture of ice cream because the ingredient contains split peanuts pieces sold by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), the current focus of an ongoing Salmonella investigation by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA). On January 28, the FDA expanded its investigation of PCA to include all peanuts processed by PCA at its plant in Blakely, GA, since January 1, 2007, including dry and oil-roasted peanuts, granulated peanuts and peanut meal, in addition to peanut butter and peanut paste, which were the initial focus of the investigation.

Hudsonville Ice Cream is announcing a voluntary recall of Candy Bar Whirl ice cream, in 64 oz. packages, because the peanuts in the ice cream may have been contaminated with Salmonella. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The ice cream under recall is: Hudsonville Creamery and Ice Cream Co. brand Candy Bar Whirl Ice Cream, net wt. 64 oz.; UPC code 7043810250. The recall includes all lot numbers of Candy Bar Whirl ice cream with a code number ending in “08”. This ice cream was distributed to retail stores in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.

The recalled ice cream contains peanuts supplied by Peanut Corporation of America, which has just announced the expansion of a voluntary recall covering all peanut products made in their Blakely, Georgia plant since January 1, 2007. Peanut Corporation of America is currently the focus of an ongoing investigation concerning Salmonella outbreaks. Hudsonville Ice Cream has not received any reports of illness connected to this ice cream, to date.

SUPERVALU INC.® is voluntarily recalling additional ice cream products sold under the Cub, Flavorite, and Richfood brands because they may contain peanut products that have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. The precautionary move follows a nationwide recall issued by Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) of all peanuts and peanut products produced in its Blakely, Georgia processing facility.

The products were sold at some SUPERVALU-owned stores including bigg’s, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacher’s, and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy in all of the states where they operate.The identified items have not been directly linked to the salmonella outbreak and there have been no reported cases of the illness. However, because the safety of customers is a top priority and out of an abundance of caution, SUPERVALU has voluntarily recalled the products.
