The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Children's Jackets with Drawstrings
Units: About 210,000
Manufacturer/Importer: GTM Sportswear Inc., of Manhattan, Kan.
Hazard: The children's jackets have drawstrings through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) (which were incorporated into an industry voluntary standard in 1997) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves children's hooded nylon jackets in sizes XXS-XL (2T-16) and in various colors. "GTM Sportswear" is printed on a label sewn in the neck of the garments. Styles include Youth Medalist Jacket (YJA180), Youth Legacy Jacket (YJAPT01), Youth Eclipse Jacket (YLJA186), Youth Dominator Jacket (YJA3800), Youth Booster Jacket (YJA150), Youth Achiever Jacket (YJA161).
Sold at: GTM Sportswear, K-State Super Store, and Cats Closet stores in Kansas, other customer screen print and embroidery stores nationwide, on the Web at www.gtmsportswear.com, www.kstategear.com, www.catscloset.com and www.justforkix.com and in GTM Sportswear and the Just for Kix catalogs from January 2003 through December 2009 for between $25 and $30.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the jackets to eliminate the hazard or return the jackets to their place of purchase or to GTM Sportswear for a full refund.

Boy's Three-Piece Santa Sets Recalled by Macy's Due to Choking Hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: First Impressions Boy's Three-Piece Santa Set
Units: About 9,600
Importer: Macy's Merchandising Group, Inc, of New York, N.Y.
Hazard: Loose buttons on the suit's jacket may easily detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: No injuries reported.
Description: This recall includes First Impressions boy's three-piece Santa Sets in sizes 0-24 months, including a jacket, pants and hat. For units sold at Macy's and on macys.com the UPCs are: 0689439416622, 0689439417131, 0689439417148, 0689439417155, 0689439417162, and 0689439417179. For units sold at the Navy Exchange stores the UPCs are: 0706254537346, 0706254537353, 0706254537360, 0706254537377, 0706254537384, and 0706254537391. For all products the tracking label information sewn into the side seam of the top and bottom includes: Style 9131, Supplier 22155, Mfg 34837, Aug. 2009, Macy's Inc.
Sold at: Macy's and macys.com, including locations in Puerto Rico, from September to December 2009, and at U.S. Navy Exchange stores from November through December 2009 for about $20 to $40.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the buttons from the jacket to eliminate the hazard or return the garment to any Macy's or U.S. Navy Exchange store for a full refund.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: BongoCheetah Girls Jackets
Units: About 1,200
Distributor: Kids with Character LLC, of New York, N.Y.
Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: The recalled garments are Bongo Cheetah Girls Jackets with style number 8N6003 and RN number 119132 printed on the care label. The jackets were sold in girls sizes 4 through 6X.
Sold at: Marshalls stores nationwide from November 2007 through August 2008 for about $25.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to either Marshall's retail store or Kids with Character for a full refund.
