Resistance Stretch Tubing Recalled by EB Brands Due to Injury Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Resistance Stretch Tubing

Units: About 29,700

Importer: EB Brands, of Yonkers, New York

Hazard: The handle on the tubing, also called bands, can break or detach while in use, causing the tubing or handle to strike the user and posing an injury hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: One report of an incident involving a bone injury.

Description: This recall involves Everlast Resistance Stretch Tubing, Everlast Pilates Stretch Tubing, Sportline Resistance Stretch Tubing and Pineapple Pilates Stretch Tubing, used for exercise and stretching. The tubing comes in yellow, blue or black with black handles. The words "2404", "2001 EB Sport Group" and "Made in China" are molded on the handles. A list of affected lot numbers is available on the firm's website.

Sold at: Sporting goods retailers from March 2010 through December 2010 for between $13 and $25.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact EB Brands for a free replacement product or a full refund.

The Coleman Company Recalls Water-Activated Spotlights Due to Risk of Impact Injury

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Coleman(r) WaterBeam(tm) 4D Water-Activated Floating Spotlights

Units: About 50,000 units

Manufacturer: Sky City Holdings International LTD, China

Distributor: The Coleman Company, Inc., of Wichita, Kansas

Hazard: The lens assembly can come apart from the main housing of the spotlight with force and pose a risk of impact injuries to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Coleman has received 33 reports of the lens assembly coming apart, 18 of which resulted in reports of impact injuries such as bruising, lacerations and minor burns.

Description: The recalled spotlights are Coleman(r) water-activated hand-held spotlights, model number 5338-782 (orange) UPC 76501 222733, model number 5338-792 (yellow) UPC 76501 222753 and model number 2000000153 (blue/white) UPC 76501 226683. A white label is affixed to the inside of the spotlight lens with the model number and production date information printed on the label.

Sold at: Various sporting good stores and retail outlets nationwide from January 2005 through June 2010 for between about $20 and $25.

Black & Decker Recalls Random Orbit Sanders Due to Laceration Hazard

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: Black &  Decker Random Orbit Sanders
Units: About 192,000
Manufacturer: Black &  Decker (U.S.) Inc., of Towson, Md.

Hazard: The black plastic disc (called the platen) that holds the sandpaper can fly off or break apart during use and the disc, or pieces of the disc, can hit the user or those nearby, posing a laceration hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Black &  Decker has received 73 reports of incidents involving the sander's black plastic disc (platen) breaking or falling apart, including 15 reports of injuries from flying pieces, one of which involved a serious facial laceration.

Description: This recall involves Black & Decker random orbit sanders with model numbers RO400, RO400G, RO410, RO410K, RO410LW and FS3000ROS and date codes between 200701 and 200929. The sanders are orange and black. "Black &  Decker" is printed on the sanders. The model number is printed on a label on the sander. The date code is stamped on the underside of the sander where the dust bag is inserted.

Sold at: Home center, hardware and discount stores and by authorized Black & Decker dealers nationwide from January 2007 through July 2009 for about $40.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled sanders and contact Black & Decker for a free replacement platen to hold the sandpaper.

Television Wall Mounts Recalled by Milestone AV Technologies Due to Injury Hazard

Name of product: Flat screen television wall mounts
Units: About 131,000
Manufacturer: Milestone AV Technologies LLC, of Savage, Minn.

Hazard: The elbow joint components on the wall mount's arm do not fit together properly, causing the attached television to tilt and possibly fall when the television is adjusted. This could pose an injury hazard to a consumer.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves the Sanus Vision Mount model LF228-B1 wall mounts and Simplicity model SLF2. The wall mounts were sold for flat screen televisions. The model numbers can be found on the UL sticker on the wall plate.

Sold at: The Sanus Vision Mount model LF228-B1 was sold through independent television mount dealers nationwide from June 2009 through July 2010 for about $450. The Simplicity model SLF2 was sold through Costco from June 2009 through July 2010 for about $200.

Char-Broil Recalls Vertical Gas Smokers Due to Injury Hazard

/PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of product: Char-Broil vertical gas smokers
Units: About 18,450
Importer: Char-Broil LLC, of Columbus, Ga.
Manufacturer: Ningbo Spring Communications of China

Hazard: When the temperature setting is in "low," the smoker's hose/valve/regulator (HVR) assembly does not allow sufficient gas to flow, causing the flame to extinguish. Gas continues to flow and build up inside the smoker. If the smoker is reignited the build-up of propane gas can cause an explosion that bursts the smoker's door open, posing an injury hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: The company has received five reports of doors bursting open and hitting consumers. Injuries reported include burns to face and head, head concussion and cuts.

Description: This recall involves the Char-Broil vertical gas smokers with model number 07701413. The model number is printed on a metal tag located on the right rear leg of the smoker. The smoker measures 21.5" x 19.5" x 45.5" and weighs 75 pounds. A "G" inside a triangle is printed on the regulator (see photo).

Sold at: Walmart and various other retailers nationwide from March 2008 through June 2010 for about $140.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled smokers and contact Char-Broil for a free replacement hose/valve/regulator assembly and installation instructions.

Bed Bath & Beyond Recalls Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrellas Due to Injury Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrellas

Units: About 7,600

Importer: Bed Bath & Beyond Inc., of Union, N.J.

Hazard: A plastic connector which attaches to the arm of the umbrella can break, causing the umbrella to collapse. This poses a risk of injury to the user.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 21 reports of units collapsing. Minor injuries were reported in three of those incidents including a bruise, abrasion and nausea.

Description: The recalled product is a 13-foot Solar Lighted Cantilever Umbrella. The umbrella has tan or chocolate colored material, lights and a black supporting pole. The UPC numbers are 444444550439 (tan) and 444444583963 (chocolate) and can be found on the product packaging. The model numbers are 8070C-S and 8070C-L and can be found on the assembly and operating instruction that were enclosed with the product packaging.

Sold exclusively at: Bed Bath & Beyond stores and online at www.bedbathandbeyond.com and www.bedbathandbeyond.ca from February 2010 through June 2010 for about $300.

Bayside Furnishings Recalls to Repair Youth Beds Sold at Costco Due to Entrapment Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: "Pirates of the Caribbean" Twin Trundle Beds

Units: About 2,000

Distributor: Bayside Furnishings (a division of Whalen), of San Diego, Calif.

Hazard: The headboard has a storage bin that poses an entrapment hazard to young children.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC received one report of a 4 year-old boy whose head became entrapped in the opening of the storage bin. He sustained bruises on the back of his left and right ears.

Description: This recall involves the Bayside youth bed: the Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Bed. The preassembled headboard has a brown wood base with decorative carvings, three open storage compartments, a storage bin and a mast. The storage bin located in the headboard, measures approximately 39 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide and 24 inches deep. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" trademark is embossed on a metal plate inside the headboard. The name and address of the manufacturer, model number, manufacture date and "Made in China" is printed on a label affixed to the inside of the mattress frame side rails.

Sold exclusively at: Costco stores nationwide from January 2006 through January 2010 for between $700 and $1,400.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the headboard storage bin and contact the firm to receive a free repair kit that will permanently close the headboard storage bin. The repair kits will be mailed to consumers in approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

VOX Amplification Recalls Amplifier Carrying Cases Due to Risk of Injury

Name of Product: Night Train Amplifier Carrying Cases

Units: About 4,200

Importer: VOX Amplification, of Melville, N.Y.

Hazard: The clasp on the shoulder strap is defective and can fail, allowing the amplifier to fall and pose a risk of injury to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of clasps failing. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the nylon carrying case sold with Night Train guitar amplifiers. The black carrying case has metal clasps and a nylon arm strap. "VOX" is printed on the front pocket of the carrying case. The carrying cases were sold with amplifiers with model number NT15H. Model numbers can be found on the rear panel of the amplifier.

Sold at: Music instrument stores nationwide and on the Internet from April 2009 to April 2010 for about $700 for the amplifier. The carrying case was sold with the amplifier.

Manufactured in: Vietnam

Remedy: Consumers should immediately remove and stop using the carrying case with the strap. Consumers should contact VOX Amplification for a free replacement strap with a new clasp.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 14 reports of base plates breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the Rome Snowboards Co. 2010 United snowboard bindings. The bindings come in black and red color themes and in sizes small, medium and large. Rome is printed on the highback. The bindings also have graphics on the back of the highback and on the rear portion of the baseplate.

Sold at: The snowboard bindings were sold at snow sports retailers from September 2009 through December 2009 for about $160.

Wood Burning Stoves Recalled by SCAN Andersen Due to Injury Hazard

Name of Product: SCAN Andersen 10 Wood Burning Stove

Units: About 200

Importer: Jotul North America, of Gorham, Maine

Manufacturer: Jøtul AS, Fredrikstad, Norway

Hazard: The stove's door can dislodge and fall from its hinges, posing a risk of injury to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Three incidents were reported to the firm including one report of a bruised foot.

Description: The recalled SCAN Andersen 10 wood burning stoves have serial numbers from 7951 through 8267. The serial number is printed on a label applied to the rear panel of the stove. These units are freestanding, black, cast iron stoves with a single front load door with glass pane. Dimensions are 35"H x 26 2/8" W x 16" D.

Sold at: Company dealers and distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada from March, 2009 to February, 2010.

Manufactured in: Norway

Remedy: Consumers should contact their dealer for a hinge replacement kit and to arrange for a free professional installation.

Name of Product: Baby Walkers

Units: About 200

Importer: Le Hing Inc., of South El Monte, Calif.

Hazard: The walkers can fit through a standard doorway and are not designed to stop at the edge of a step. Babies using these walkers can be seriously injured or killed.

Incidents/Injuries: No injuries or incidents have been reported.

Description: The recalled walkers are intended for babies 6 months and older. The item number L-0809EN is printed on the side of the box. The walkers are blue or pink with a white tray.

Sold at: Small independent retailers and discount stores in California and Arizona from June 2009 through August 2009 for between $25 and $28.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these walkers immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.

CO2 Bicycle Tire Inflators Sold at Walmart Recalled by Todson Inc. Due to Risk of Injury

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: CO2 bicycle tire inflators

Units: About 24,000

Importer: Todson Inc., of North Attleboro, Mass.

Hazard: The pressurized cartridge containing carbon dioxide (CO2) can forcefully separate from the pump head, posing a risk of injury to the consumer.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves Zefal CO2 bicycle tire inflators with a small pressurized carbon dioxide cartridge. The metal cartridge is threaded into the inflator head, which allows for the controlled release of carbon dioxide into the bicycle inner tube. The recalled inflators have "Zefal EZ+ CO2 inflator" printed on the front of the package. Model number 5602 and UPC number 798661556020 is printed on the back.

Sold exclusively at: Walmart stores nationwide from August 2009 through November 2009 for about $15.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the inflators and return them to Walmart for a full refund.

Salomon USA Recalls Ski Bindings Due to Unexpected Release, Fall Hazard

Name of Product: Alpine Ski Bindings

Units: About 10,000

Importer: Salomon USA, of Ogden, Utah

Manufacturer: Salomon SAS, of France

Hazard: The toe component of the ski bindings could fail to fully secure the ski boot to the ski binding, causing the binding to release unexpectedly. This could cause the skier to lose control or fall and suffer injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received two reports of injuries, including a broken leg and a knee injury.

Description: This recall involves the Salomon alpine ski bindings with models LZ 7, LZ 8, LZ 9, LZ 7 SR, LZ 8 SR, LZ 8 SC, and J LZ 9 and the Atomic ski bindings with model Evox 2.8, Evox 2.8+, Evox 2.8++, and FFG 8. "Salomon" or "Atomic" and the respective model number are displayed on the ski bindings. The toe components bear a production date code ending in "8" that can be found on the center plate where the toe of a ski boot contacts the toe component of the bindings.

Sold at: Authorized Salomon USA and Atomic USA ski dealers nationwide from September 2008 through October 2009 for between $90 and $160.

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these ski bindings immediately and return the Salomon-brand ski bindings to any authorized Salomon ski dealer, or return the Atomic-brand ski bindings to any authorized Atomic ski dealer, for a free inspection and replacement of the toe component.

Treestands Recalled by Gander Mountain Company Due to Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Hang-On Fixed Position Treestands

Units: About 13,000

Importer: Gander Mountain Company, of St. Paul, Minn.

Manufacturer: StrongBuilt, of Waterproof, La.

Hazard: The clasp may open unexpectedly if the strap is fastened incorrectly, causing the treestand and user to fall to the ground.

Incidents/Injuries: Gander Mountain has received two reports of consumers falling while using the treestands: one sustained unspecified injuries and a second person sustained a broken pelvis and broken arm.

Description: Gander Mountain is recalling the 2008 model GMT101 and 2008 model GMT103 Hang-On Fixed Position Treestands. The recalled treestands have wire mesh on the base of the platform to the top of the footrest and a Gander Mountain logo on the front of the seat. In addition, the seat has a camouflage pattern that is branded "AP" and "REALTREE". Model GMT101 has "Steel Hang-On With Foot Rest" printed in large bold print on the exterior of the box and the GMT103 has "Large Steel Hang-On With Foot Rest" printed on the exterior of the box. This recall does not affect the 2009 year models GMT101 and GMT103 Hang-On Fixed Position Treestands manufactured by Rivers Edge.

Sold at: The treestands were sold only at Gander Mountain stores from July 2008 until July 2009. The GMT101 was sold for about $60 and the GMT103 was sold for about $80.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled treestands and return them to Gander Mountain for a refund, exchange for a 2009 model or a store credit.

Bicycles Recalled by Easton Sports; Stem Failure Poses Fall Hazard

/PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Bicycles with EA30 Stems

Units: About 6,400

Importer: Easton Sports, of Scotts Valley, Calif.


Hazard: The bicycle stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control, posing a risk of serious injury if the rider falls.

Incidents/Injuries: The company received a report of a stem breaking, causing a minor injury to the rider.

Description: This recall involves all Raleigh 2007, XXIX 700c MTN, RX1.0, Diamondback 2007, Mission, and Sortie bicycles with EA30 stems. The EA30 stems are black with white-and-gray graphics and feature a four-bolt stem face cap. "EA30" is printed on the stem. EA30 stems sold as aftermarket items are included in this recall.

Sold through: Independent bicycle dealers nationwide from August 2007 through August 2009 for between $500 and $1,200. Aftermarket stems were sold from August 2007 through September 2009 for about $30.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycles and contact any authorized Easton Sports for a free replacement stem.

Off-Road Utility Vehicles Recalled by Bad Boy Enterprises Due To Crash Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Classic Buggies

Units: About 3,900

Manufacturer: Bad Boy Enterprises LLC, of Natchez, Miss.

Hazard: The off-road vehicles can accelerate without warning, posing a risk of injury to the user and/or bystander.

Incidents/Injuries: Bad Boy Enterprises has received 32 reports of unexpected acceleration, including reports of injuries such as a fractured toe, rotator cuff injury and sore muscles.

Description: This recall involves Bad Boy Buggy Standard model off-road utility vehicles. The Bad Boy Buggy Standard model has one row seat that allows two persons (the driver and passenger) to sit side-by-side while the vehicle is operated. The Standard has an open air design (no doors or windows), but has a roof. The Bad Boy Buggy Standard models come in Realtree camouflage pattern, Hardwoods camouflage pattern, hunter green, red and black colors. The affected models have serial numbers between 85004828 and 95010404. The serial number is located on a sticker in a cubby on the driver's side.

Sold by: Authorized dealers nationwide from June 2007 through July 2009 for about $10,000.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the buggies and contact their Bad Boy Buggy dealer for a free repair.

Weight Watchers Recalls Plush Hungry Figures and Magnets Due to Puncture Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets

Units: About 420,000 in the United States and 25,000 in Canada

Distributor: Weight Watchers Intl., of New York, N.Y.

Manufacturer: Shanghai Oriland Toys Co. Ltd, of China

Hazard: Sewing needles have been found in the stuffing of the Hungry Figures, posing a puncture hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Weight Watchers has received two reports from company employees of a sewing needle being found in two Hungry Figures. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets have orange plush exteriors. The Hungry Figure is about 6 inches long and the Hungry Magnet is about 4 inches long.

Sold exclusively by: Weight Watchers between April 2009 and July 2009 for between $4 and $7.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Hungry Figures and Hungry Magnets and return them to Weight Watchers to receive a full refund or a credit towards the purchase of another product.

Bicycles Recalled by Nirve Sports; Stem Failure Poses Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Cannibal Bicycles

Units: About 120

Importer: Nirve Sports Ltd., of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Hazard: The bicycle stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control, posing a risk of serious injury if the rider falls.

Incidents/Injuries: Nirve Sports has received two reports of cracked stems. In both cases, the cracks occurred during assembly of the bicycle. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves Cannibal "Chopper" model bicycles with graphic designs by artist Corey Miller. The bicycles have a black matte finish. The affected bicycles have a serial number within the following range: L8E0300001 - L8E1001050. Serial numbers are located on the bottom of the bicycle between the pedals.

Sold by: Nirve Sports and authorized dealers nationwide from December 2008 through April 2009 for about $600.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycles and return them to the place of purchase for free repair.

Felt Bicycles Recalls Cyclocross Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: 2007/2008 Felt F1X Cyclocross Bicycles

Units: About 1,500

Importer: Felt Bicycles, of Irving, Calif.

Manufacturer: Aprebic/EVO Industry Co. Ltd., of Taiwan

Hazard: The bicycle's fork steerer tube can break, causing the rider to lose control and fall, posing a risk of injury.

Incidents/Injuries: Felt Bicycles has received six reports of the bicycle forks breaking, including two reports of minor cuts and scrapes.

Description: The recall includes all 2007/2008 Felt F1X Cyclocross Bicycles. These bicycles are available in semimatte black and have aluminum frames with carbon fiber forks with aluminum steerer tubes.

Sold by: Bicycle specialty stores nationwide from July 2006 through April 2009 for between $1,400 and $1,500.

Manufactured in: Taiwan

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact a local Felt Bicycles dealer to receive a free inspection and repair.

Pensi Ceiling Fans Recalled by The Modern Fan Co. Due to Fall and Injury Hazard

/PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Pensi Fans

Units: About 1,300

Manufacturer: The Modern Fan Co. Inc., of Ashland, Oregon

Hazard: The internal coupler that connects the down rod assembly to the motor can break and cause the fan to fall from the ceiling, posing an injury hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm received four reports of incidents where the fan fell from the ceiling while operating. No injuries were reported.

Description: The recalled Pensi fans have model numbers beginning with or containing "PEN-AA-" or "PEN-GW-" and have an Aluminum/Anthracite or a Gloss White finish.

Sold at: Internet retailers, lighting showrooms, fan specialty stores and electrical distributors nationwide from August 2008 through July 2009 for between $400 and $530.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately turn off the power to the fan to stop use and contact The Modern Fan Co. for assistance with model identification and a replacement coupler. Consumers are also advised to not allow anyone underneath the fan. In the event that a fan falls, consumers should immediately turn off the circuit breaker due to the possibility of exposed electrical wires.
