Brine Recalls VIP Lacrosse Gloves Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Youth and Adult Brine VIP Lacrosse Gloves

Units: About 7,000 in the United States and 30 in Canada

Manufacturer: Brine, a division of Warrior Sports Inc., of Warren, Mich.

Hazard: Screen printing ink used on the silver triad logo on the back of the glove contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves black and white Brine VIP lacrosse gloves sold in three sizes: 10, 12 and 13 inches. The name "Brine" is printed in white and a silver triad symbol is printed on the back of the glove on the wrist cuff. The following lacrosse gloves are involved in this recall:

- Model Number: LGLVIP02-618983164505 / Size: 12 inches
- Model Number: LGLVIP00-618983164543 / Size: 10 inches

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Allreds Design Baby Bracelets and Pacifier Clips

Units: About 900

Manufacturer: Allreds Design (doing business as Hidden Hollow Beads), of Fort Duchesne, Utah

Hazard: The recalled bracelets and pacifier clip clasps contain high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Incidents/Injuries: Allreds Design received one report of a 10-month-old child who was treated by a physician for elevated lead levels.

Description: This recall includes Allreds Design brand baby bracelets and pacifier clips. The bracelets are sold in sizes 0-6 months, 1-4 years, and 4-8 years of age. The baby bracelets and pacifier clips have crystal and plastic beads in various colors with a metal clasp.

Sold by: Resale stores and other consignment retailers nationwide from June 2008 through December 2008 for about $5.

Children's Toy Jewelry Sets Recalled by Playmates Toys; Charms Violate the Total Lead Standard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Tiny Tink and Friends Children's Toy Jewelry Sets

Units: About 252,000

Importer: Playmates Toys, of Costa Mesa, Calif.

Hazard: A cylindrical metal connector on a charm can contain levels of total lead in excess of 300 ppm, which is prohibited under federal law.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves charms sold with the Tiny Tink and Friends toy jewelry sets. The charm is attached to a cord using a metal ring and cylinder and included with the sets as a separate accessory that children can attach to the toy necklace, bracelet or key chain. The toy jewelry sets containing the charm accessory were sold in a variety of styles:

Hazard: The surface paint coating on the bracelets sold with greeting cards contain excessive levels of lead violating the federal lead paint standard.

Description: This recall involves Papyrus brand children's greeting cards sold with an attached wooden bead bracelet. The front of the card says "Happy Birthday To You" and includes an attached bead in the shape of a heart with the word "smile" printed on it. The colorful bracelet includes wooden beads with one in the shape of a butterfly. The back of the greeting card reads, "BD 63401 | © Jean Card & Gift Company" and the card insert reads, "USA $6.95| CAN $10.50| Made in China| © Jean Card & Gift Company" and includes UPC number 734524634013 in the lower right hand corner.

Units: About 55,000

Hazard: The recalled necklaces contain high levels of cadmium. Cadmium is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Description: The recalled jewelry is shaped as a metal crown or frog pendant on a metal link chain necklace in a crown hinged box. The packaging has the words "The Princess and the Frog" on it and contains the following model numbers and UPC codes:

Hazard: A red plastic dot sewn in the book contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Description: This recall involves "Big Rex and Friends" cloth books. The book has a black and white striped border with a red dinosaur on the cover. The words "Big Rex and Friends" are printed on the cover. ISBN 031249260X or 9780312492601 is printed on the back of the book.

Description: This recall involves Oozora and Shin-Fuji Kendama Japanese wooden skill toys. The toys have a ball connected by a string to a handle with three cups and spike on top. A Japanese Kendama Association sticker is affixed to the toy. The red and green balls on the Oozora and only the red balls on the Shin Fuji are included in the recall.

Name of Product: Children's Toys, Purses and Pen Cases

Units: About 130

Importer: Daiso California LLC, of Burlingame, Calif.

Hazard: The surface paint on the balancing toys and zippers of the purses and pen cases contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint ban. The inflatable baseball bat toys contain excessive levels of DEHP, violating the federal phthalate standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves balancing toys in the shape of dragonflies, children's purses in the shape of the head of a lion, frog or bear, children's purses with rainbow stripes, children's pen cases shaped like a piece of candy with stitching "cool ice cream," "sweet cake," or "fad hamburger" on the front, and inflatable baseball bats with "Home Run" printed on the side. Daiso is printed on the product's packaging.

Name of product: Abalone and Venetian Carnevale Necklace Craft Kits

Units: About 2,900 in the United States and 36 in Canada

Importer: Action Products International Inc., of Ocala, Fla.

Hazard: The lobster clasps in both craft kits contain high levels of lead. The Abalone Necklace's pendant also contains high levels of lead. Lead can be toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall includes the children's jewelry craft kits "Abalone Necklace" (item #67117) and "Venetian Carnevale Necklace" (item #67118). Both kits contain components to assemble necklaces including charms, beads, wire and clasps. The kit's name, model number, and "Curiosity Kits" are printed on the product's packaging.

Nordstrom Recalls Girl's Shoes Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of product: Nordstrom Girl's Shoes

Units: About 31,000

Importer: Nordstrom, of Seattle, Wash.

Hazard: Surface paint on the outer sole of these shoes contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall includes six styles of Nordstrom-brand shoes for girls. "Clarice-Fab" flats are bone colored with a bow. "Eva-Fab" are bone colored T-strap sandals. "Fern-Fab" are ankle strap sandals sold in bone, pink, white, blue polka-dot or pink polka-dot. "Lilly-Fab" are fuchsia gingham ballerina flats with a bow. "Rita-Fab" are ankle strap dress shoes sold in ivory linen, pink linen, white linen, cafe satin, silver satin or white satin. "Vivi-Fab" are open-toe dress shoes in bone, white, green polka-dot, lavender polka-dot or yellow polka-dot. The shoes were sold in girls' sizes 10 through big-kids 7. All shoes have an embossed "NORDSTROM" printed on the insole. Only the colors identified above are subject to the recall.

Sold exclusively at: Nordstrom stores nationwide from September 2006 through February 2009 for between about $35 and $45.

Remedy: Consumers should take the recalled shoes away from children immediately and return them to any Nordstrom store for a full refund or exchange.

Units: About 600 pairs

Distributor: Pronto Sports Inc., of Anoka, Minn.

Hazard: Surface paint on the ice skates contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Description: The recalled youth adjustable boys ice skates are black with lime green and silver accents. "Glide" is printed on a rubber tag on the side of the skates. "DBX" and the DBX logo are located on the ice skate's ankle powerstrap, tongue, and heel.

Sold at: Dick's Sporting Goods nationwide from September 2008 through December 2008 for between $30 and $60.

Manufacturer: Alpargatas USA Inc., of New York, N.Y.

Hazard: Decorative paint on the sole of the flip flops can contain levels of lead in excess of the federal standard.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported

Description: Flip flops of the Havaianas brand containing decorative paint were sold under the following model names: Baby Estampas, Baby Pets, Kids Apple, Kids Fairy, Kids Flores, Kids Lighthouse, Kids Monsters, Kids Surf, Baby Letrinhas, Kids Sports, Kids Candies, Kids Fun, Kids Love, Kids Sereias, Kids Speed, Kids Lucky Bug, Kids Pets, Kids Rock, Kids Slim, Kids Wonder Woman, Kids Small Flowers and Kids Tropical w/Kit. A photo of a representative flip flop is provided below. Havaianas flip flops without decorative paint are not being recalled.

Sold by: Department and specialty stores nationwide from November 2006 through February 2009 for about $15 to $24 a pair.

Manufactured in: Brazil

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled flip flops away from children and return them to Alpargatas USA, Inc. to receive a replacement.
