Children's Fork and Spoon Sets Recalled by Peachtree Playthings Due to Choking Hazard; Sold at Dollar Tree and Deals

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman Fork and Spoon Sets

Units: About 127,000

Manufacturer: Peachtree Playthings, of Atlanta, Ga.

Hazard: The middle two prongs of the plastic fork can detach, posing a choking hazard to children.

Incidents/Injuries: Peachtree Playthings has received one report of a middle prong detaching from the fork. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves the Scooby Doo, Tweety and Batman plastic fork and spoon sets. The two-piece set is white plastic with cartoon images on the handle.

Sold at: Dollar Tree Stores and Deals during January 2010 for about $1 per set.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled fork and spoon sets away from children and return them to Dollar Tree or Deals for a full refund.

Summit Treestands Recalls Hunting Tree Stand Brackets Due to Fall Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Talon Hunting Hang-on Tree Stands and Brackets/Straps

Units: About 6,800

Manufacturer: Summit Treestands LLC, of Decatur, Ala.

Hazard: The tree stand can unexpectedly detach from the tree when the brackets fail, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received four reports of the brackets failing, resulting in reports of falls and injuries including broken bones.

Description: This recall involves Talon Raptor brackets/straps and Cabelas Realtree series hang-on tree stands with the Talon brackets/straps. A safety label sewn onto the bracket reads "Treestand Strap Assembly." Tree stands involved in this recall have the following model numbers: rsEagle 82044, rsOsprey 82041, rsFalcon 82042, rsHawk 82043 and Cabelas Realtree Outfitters Series Hawk Deluxe 81509. Model information is printed on the tree stand warning label that is sewn onto the seat.

Sold at: Hunting stores and in catalogs nationwide from May 2009 through November 2009 for about $25 for the bracket only, for between $130 and $180 for the tree stand.

Manufactured in: USA

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the brackets and contact Summit Treestands to receive a replacement bracket/strap.

LaJobi Recalls Babi Italia Pinehurst and Bonavita Hudson Drop Side Cribs; Risk of Entrapment and Suffocation

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Bonavita "Hudson" and Babi Italia "Pinehurst" Drop Side Cribs

Units: About 2,900

Importer: LaJobi Inc., of Cranbury, N.J.

Hazard: The lower spring pins on the footboard and headboard can pop out of the tracks located on the drop side causing the drop side to detach from the crib. When the drop side detaches, it creates a hazardous gap between the drop side and the crib mattress in which infants and toddlers can become entrapped and suffocate or fall from cribs.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC and LaJobi have received a total of 33 reports of drop side detachment due to spring pin failure. In these reports, two children became entrapped and one child fell from cribs. Both entrapped children were freed by caregivers, one child was bruised.

Description: The recalled cribs are wood with a metal mattress support and have drop sides and were sold in a variety of finishes including cherry, espresso, natural, and white. Hudson and Pinehurst drop side cribs with production dates from December 2006 through August 2007 are included in the recall. The recalled cribs have the production date, product order (PO) number, item number, and color printed on a label attached to the footboard or headboard.

Sold at: Babi Italia Pinehurst drop side cribs were sold exclusively by Babies "R" Us. Bonavita Hudson drop side cribs were sold at Baby Basics, Beautiful Beginnings, and Buy Buy Baby stores and children's product stores nationwide for about $300. Cribs were sold from December 2006 through December 2007.

Remedy: CPSC urges parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the recalled cribs and find an alternative, safe sleeping environment for their baby. LaJobi will provide professional technicians to perform in-home installations of a free retrofit hardware kit. Consumers should contact LaJobi to register for the free retrofit kit service.
