Unilever United States, Inc., of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is voluntarily recalling certain Shedd’s Country Crock® chilled side-dish products because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
To date, the company has received one report of four family members who had adverse reactions associated with this product.
The product was distributed in retail stores nationwide.
The recall was initiated after the company was notified by the co-manufacturer of the product that an ingredient containing sulfites was inadvertently used in the production of the chilled side-dish products. This issue has been addressed and safeguards have been put into place.

Shedd’s Country Crock® Side Dishes DELUXE Cheddar Broccoli Rice, with Best-By dates of NOV 29 09 through to JAN 16 10. The UPC code is 027400218316.
The product comes in a 21-ounce (1 LB 5 OZ / 595 g) plastic tub inside a paperboard sleeve.
Shedd’s Country Crock® Side Dishes DELUXE Four Cheese Pasta, withBest By dates of DEC 05 09 through to JAN 16 10. The UPC code is 027400230875.
The product comes in a 20-ounce (1 LB 4 OZ / 567 g) plastic tub inside a paperboard sleeve.
The UPC code is located on the bottom of the sleeve and the Best-By date is located on the same side of the sleeve and the side of the tub.
In addition to working in cooperation with the FDA, the company is also issuing an alert through the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network.
No other Shedd’s Country Crock® chilled side-dish products are affected by this recall.

SNACKS ON RACKS, INC. Issues Nationwide Allergy Alert because of Undeclared Allergens in Their Gourmet Snacks Pack Product Line
Snacks on Racks, Inc. of Parkville, Missouri is recalling products from their line of Gourmet Snacks Packs because they may contain undeclared milk, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, egg, sulfites or wheat. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, sulfites, soy or wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The complete list of recalled products are listed at the end of this press release.
Gourmet Snack Packs are distributed throughout the continental United States to food service establishments at hospitals, colleges, universities and corporate cafeterias and kiosks. Gourmet Snack Packs are not sold to convenient stores, gas stations, grocery or mass market retailers.
Gourmet Snack Packs are packaged in clear, rectangular-shaped, safety sealed, plastic container with a blue Snacks on Racks label adhered to the top of the product. The retail packaging is not marked with any codes, UPC numbers, or expiration dates. A date code is stickered on the case packaging only. Consumers will be able to distinguish between the recalled product and the correctly-labeled new product because the new product will have the recycling symbol located in the bottom right corner of the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated when it was discovered that the Snacks on Racks labeling for chocolate raisins did not match the original manufacturer’s allergen statement. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem occurred in the company’s production and packaging processes. Snacks on Racks has implemented new processes to ensure customer safety.

Consumer Alert - Undeclared Sulfites in "Ziolopex Bakaliada Morele Suszone (Dried Apricots)"
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today (September 24) alerted consumers that Adamba Imports International, Inc., located at 585 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY is recalling "Ziolopex Bakaliada Morele Suszone (Dried Apricots)" due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled "Ziolopex Bakaliada Morele Suszone (Dried Apricots)" are packaged in a 4.64 ounce (130 gram), plastic bag and coded 06 2010, 081215V1C in black ink on the back of the package. The product was distributed nationwide and is a product of Poland.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.

Some imported Honey Jujube teas recalled for preservatives not found on product label
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to the recall of some imported teas.
Seoul Shik Poom Inc., Englewood, NJ, is recalling its 2.2 lb packages of “Honey Jujube Teas” because they may contain sulfites, a preservative that is not listed as an ingredient on the product label.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled “Honey Jujube Teas” were sold in retail stores nationwide.

Starway Inc. Issues Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Ego Brand Preserved Peaches
Starway Incorporated, located at 137 Grattan Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11237, is recalling EGO brand Preserved Peaches because the product contains undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
EGO brand Preserved Peaches is sold in a 14 ounce, un-coded, clear plastic package and was distributed nationwide. It is a product of Malaysia.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in EGO brand Preserved Peaches which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
