Williams-Sonoma Recalls Hot Chocolate Pots Due To Burn and Laceration Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Hot chocolate pots

Units: About 28,000 units in the United States and 700 in Canada

Importer: ICI USA, LLC, of Seattle, Wash.

Distributor: Williams-Sonoma Inc., of San Francisco, Calif.

Hazard: The handle of the hot chocolate pot can break off during use, posing burn and laceration hazards.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 28 reports of handles breaking off of the pots, including eight reports of injuries involving minor burns or cuts.

Description: This recall involves the Whirly Whip hot chocolate pots sold individually as item number 2981454 or 4986535, and as part of the Whirly Whip hot chocolate pot gift set item number 3021714. The item number can be found on the product's box, below the bar code. The pot is made of white porcelain and has a red handle. The lid has a red knob and a frother attached to the underside of the lid knob.

Sold at: Williams-Sonoma stores nationwide, online at www.williams-sonoma.com and through Williams-Sonoma catalogs from October 2010 through January 2011 for between $30 and $40.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hot chocolate pots and either return the product to any Williams-Sonoma store or contact Williams-Sonoma for instructions on how to return the product for a full refund.

Rechargeable Spotlights Recalled by Innovage Due to Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: FIXIT One Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlights

Units: About 1.4 Million

Importer: Innovage LLC, of Foothill Ranch, Calif.

Hazard: The spotlight's charging adapter can overcharge the battery, forcing it to rupture and leak battery acid. This poses a chemical burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 13 reports of incidents involving minor skin chemical burns and battery acid burn holes in upholstery, clothing and carpeting.

Description: This recall involves the One Million Candlepower Spotlight, a rechargeable halogen light. The handheld spotlight is made of yellow plastic and has a black label that reads, "FIXIT Tools UP TO 1,000,000 CANDLE POWER" or "FIXIT Rechargeable Spotlight." The spotlight is sold with an AC power charger and a 12 volt car utility adapter.

Sold at: Walgreens, Rite Aid, Bealls, Tuesday Morning, Ace Hardware, Boscov's and Winn-Dixie stores nationwide from October 2003 through October 2009 for about $10.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the spotlights and contact Innovage for a full refund of the regular retail price. For purchases made above the regular retail price, additional refunds will be offered with valid receipts. Consumers are asked to return the product, via a self-addressed stamped envelope or box that will be provided. Instructions for returning the product are posted at www.spotlightrecall.org and are also available from the Innovage call center.

Rechargeable Batteries Used with Touch Panels for Audio/Visual Systems Recalled by AMX Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Rechargeable Batteries sold with MVP 5000 Series Wireless Touch Panels

Units: About 6,400

Manufacturer: AMX, of Richardson, Texas

Hazard: Touch panels left uncharged for more than three months can fail, causing the battery to rupture. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: This recall involves AMX 5000 series (MVP-5100, MVP-5150, MVP-5200i) wireless touch panels. The model number can be found on a label on the back of the unit. These touch panels can be used as remote controls for residential or commercial audio/visual systems. AMX 5000 series touch panels are available in black or white and include a 5.2" wide screen color LCD display. The touch panel's dimensions are 4 3/4" x 7 9/16" x 13/16".

Sold by: AMX dealers nationwide from May 2008 through June 2009 for between $2,400 and $4,200.

Manufactured in: United States and Mexico

Remedy: Consumer should immediately stop using the touch panels and contact AMX for instructions on how to receive a replacement battery at no cost.

The Life is Good Company Travel Mugs Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Fall 2009 Newbury Travel Mugs

Units: About 15,000

Importer: The S Group, of Portland, Ore.

Manufacturer: Pow Can, of Zhejiang, China

Hazard: The travel mugs can become excessively hot to the touch when filled with hot liquids, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received three reports of excessively hot mugs, including one complaint of a minor burn to the hand.

Description: This recall involves Newbury Travel Mugs. The 7 ½ -inch tall mugs were sold in blue, green and orange each with a navy blue lid. The Life is good trademark is printed on the mug along with a graphic of a heart, peace symbol or daisy.

Sold at: Life is Good and independent retail stores nationwide and online at lifeisgood.com from July 2009 through September 2009 for about $20.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the travel mugs. Consumers can return the mugs to receive a credit or gift certificate for the amount of the purchase price.

Halloween Flashlights Sold Exclusively at Target Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Halloween Flashlights
Units: About 610,000
Importer: Target, of Minneapolis, Minn.

Manufacturer: DGI LLC, of Warren, N.J. and Tien Hsing, of Wanchai, Hong Kong

Hazard: The flashlights can overheat and melt, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received eight reports of flashlights overheating and melting, including one report of burns to the hand.

Description: This recall involves two types of Halloween-themed flashlights: the mini flashlights and flashlights sold with stencils.

Mini Flashlights - The mini flashlights have a key ring extending from the bottom and were sold in a pack of three colors: orange, green and black. The orange and purple packaging has "Mini Flashlights (3 Pack)" printed on the front and "DGI", "Made in China" and "DPCI# 234-02-1813" printed on the back.

Standard Size Flashlights - Also included in the recall are standard sized flashlights with a black handle and an orange top. The flashlights were sold with six stencils in various colors and images: a pumpkin, ghost, spider, cat, witch and skull & cross-bones. "Flashlight with Stencil" is printed on the front and "Tien Hsing," "Made in China" and" 234 02 1838" is printed on the back of the packaging.

Sold exclusively at: Target stores nationwide from August 2009 through September 2009 for $1 for the mini flashlights and $2.50 for the flashlights with stencils.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumer should immediately stop using the flashlights and return the product to any Target store for a full refund.

Women's Chenille Robes Recalled by Blair Due to Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Full Length Women's Chenille Robes

Units: About 162,000

Retailer: Blair LLC, of Warren, Pa.

Hazard: Some robes fail to meet federal flammability requirements and present a risk of serious burns to consumers if they are exposed to an open flame.

Incidents/Injuries: Blair has received three reports of the robes catching on fire, including one report of second-degree burns.

Description: The recall involves the Full Length Women's Chenille Robe with the following item numbers: 3093111, 3093112, 3093113, 3093114, 3093115, and 3093116. The item number is identified on a label in the garment's neckline. This is a one-piece garment made of plush sculpted chenille, a shaped stand collar, and horizontal chenille front and back yolks and cuffs. The robe has a full-button front with seven matching button closures, long sleeves with self cuffs, a straight bottom with self hem, and two sideseam pockets. The robe's sewn in label states: "100% Cotton, RN 81700, Made in Pakistan". Robes with other item numbers are not included in the recall.

Sold at: Blair catalogs and Web site, and Blair stores in Warren, Pa., Grove City, Pa., and Wilmington, Del., from January 2003 through March 2009 from about $20 to $40.

Manufactured in: Pakistan

Remedy: Consumers should stop wearing the garment immediately. Contact Blair LLC for information on returning the robe and to receive a refund or a $50 gift card for Blair merchandise.

Gaming System Batteries and Recharging Station Recalled by LeapFrog Due to Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Rechargeable Batteries and Recharging Station for Didj Custom Gaming System

Units: About 35,500

Manufacturer: LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., of Emeryville, Calif.

Hazard: The rechargeable batteries included with the Recharging Station can overheat if the gaming system is placed into the recharging base upside down, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: LeapFrog has received 12 reports of the rechargeable batteries overheating, including one report of a minor hand burn.

Description: The Recharging Station comes with two rechargeable batteries, an AC adapter, and a recharging base. The recharging base is white with a green indicator light on the bottom. The Recharging Station for Didj was sold as item number 30676, which is printed on the box and on the bottom of the recharging base.

Sold at: Department stores and toy stores nationwide and www.leapfrog.com, and other online retailers from July 2008 through October 2008 for about $35.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recharging base and the two rechargeable batteries and contact LeapFrog for a full refund. Consumers can continue using the AC adapter connected directly to the Didj handheld.game

Toy Boats Recalled Due to Burn Hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: Battery Operated Toy "Speed Boats"

Units: About 200,000

Importer: Dollar General Merchandising Inc., of Goodlettsville, Tenn.

Hazard: The two battery terminals can come into contact with each other, causing the battery to overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Dollar General has received two reports of the batteries overheating. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled toy speed boats are lightweight plastic toy boats supported by an inflatable hull with "outboard" motors on them. The motor uses two AA batteries. The toy boat measures about 12 inches long by 8 inches wide and comes in various colors and designs.

Sold at: Dollar General nationwide from March 2008 through July 2008 for $3 each.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should take these toys away from young children and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or replacement product.

Remote-Controlled Helicopter Toys Recalled by Protocol Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: "Protocol" Remote-Controlled Mini Helicopter Toys

Units: About 78,000

Importer: Ashley Collection Inc., d.b.a. Protocol, of New York, N.Y.

Hazard: The rechargeable battery inside the helicopter can overheat. This can result in the helicopter's body melting, as well as a risk of fire or burns to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received nine reports of incidents of the helicopter overheating, including one minor burn to a consumer's fingertip.

Descriptions: This recall involves the "Protocol" remote-controlled mini helicopter toys with model number starting with 1442. The helicopter is made of foam and plastic and measures about 7 inches long. "Protocol" is printed on the tail and on the side of the helicopter. "1442-X" can be found on the packaging. The remote-control component measures 5 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches.

Sold at: Retail stores nationwide from October 2007 through December 2007 for between $30 and $50.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled toys away from children and contact the firm for information on how to receive a replacement helicopter.
