Importer/ Distributor: Pottery Barn Kids, a division of Williams-Sonoma, Inc., of San Francisco, Calif.Hazard: The end structure of the bunk bed can pose an entrapment hazard to young children, a violation of the Safety Standard for Entrapment Hazards in Bunk Bed, 16 C.F.R. Part 1513. Children can get their necks caught in the opening between the post and the decorative molding.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves Madeline bunk beds. The bed is white and is made of wood and medium-density fiberboard. It has guardrails on either side of the top bunk and a ladder that attaches to the side of the beds.
Sold at: Pottery Barn Kids stores, catalog and www.potterybarnkids.com from July 2009 to March 2010 for $1,400

Big Lots Stores, Inc. Recalls to Repair Bunk Beds Due to Collapse and Fall Hazards
/PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Wooden Bunk Beds
Units: About 20,000
Importer: Big Lots Stores, Inc., of Columbus, Ohio
Hazard: The bunk beds' mattress support slats and side support railings can break, posing a risk of the bunk bed collapsing and a fall hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Big Lots has received 14 reports of the recalled bunk beds' support slats cracking or breaking, including four reports of minor injuries.
Description: This recall includes wooden bunk beds with a three step ladder. Model numbers WP-9108-1 and WP-9108-2 are included in this recall. The model number is located on a sticker on the bunk bed's interior panel of the headboard or the footboard.
Sold exclusively at: Big Lots stores nationwide from May 2008 through February 2009 for about $300.
Manufactured in: Vietnam
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using recalled bunk beds and contact Big Lots to return the defective parts and to receive a free repair kit.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the importers named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer products. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Twin, Twin Extra-Large, and Twin Over Full Bunk Beds
Units: About 1,500
Manufacturer: Gothic Cabinet Craft Inc., of Maspeth, N. Y.
Hazard: The bunk beds do not have sufficient headboards, footboards, or guardrails and have gaps between parts of the upper bunk that could allow a child's body to pass through but not a child's head. These bunk beds pose a fall, entrapment, and strangulation hazard to children and violate the spacing requirements of the federal bunk bed safety standard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: Both metal and wooden bunk beds are being recalled. The bunk bed styles include dark oak and metal, solid pine, others come with six drawers as part of the base.
Sold by: Retail stores in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area from June 2000 through October 2008 for between $225 and $850.
Manufactured in: United States
